In an era where most yearn for a lucrative career in the corporate world, Utkarsh Kumar’s decision was against the tide. A resident of Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, Utkarsh chose purpose over a paycheck, a commitment to public service over corporate luxuries. Leaving behind an annual package of ₹29 lakh, he embarked on a journey to crack one of India’s toughest exams, the UPSC, and did so with remarkable success.
From his early days, Utkarsh showcased academic brilliance. This intellect saw him clear the JEE exam after his intermediate education, subsequently securing a coveted seat at IIT Bombay. The world of engineering beckoned, and upon graduation, he was courted by a prestigious company that offered him a handsome annual package of ₹29 lakh. But after dedicating a few years to the corporate world, Utkarsh felt a pull towards the Indian civil services, prompting him to resign and refocus his career.
Embracing the challenging path of UPSC preparation, Utkarsh adhered to a principle of balanced study. Instead of prioritizing one subject over another, he dedicated equal time to each, ensuring comprehensive preparation. This methodical approach extended to meticulous note-making and consistent answer writing practice, elements Utkarsh credits for hastening his success.

He emphasizes the value of staying positive and resilient, especially given the unpredictable nature of UPSC exams.
