Originally from Singrauli, Rishi completed his graduation in Electrical Engineering, only to face a significant setback. Diagnosed with color blindness, he found himself medically unfit for a career in his chosen field. This unexpected twist, however, didn’t deter him. Instead, Rishi transformed this apparent weakness into a catalyst for change, propelling him towards the civil services.

Rishi’s first attempt at the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) was commendable, as he successfully cleared all three stages. However, luck was not entirely in his favor, and he narrowly missed being listed in the final selection. Unfazed, Rishi persevered, and in his second attempt in 2017, he secured an impressive 27th rank. In a candid interview with Delhi Knowledge Track, he shared insights into his preparation strategy.

Rishi observed that the era of struggling to gather resources for UPSC preparation is long past. Today, the internet has revolutionized access to information. Candidates can find books, guidance, strategies, and subject-specific materials with just a click. This digital abundance, according to Rishi, has made physical location less significant in the preparation journey.

Contrary to the popular belief among UPSC aspirants that relocating to Delhi for coaching is essential, Rishi argues that it’s not a necessity. He emphasizes that all the materials and resources available in coaching centers in Delhi are equally accessible online. Therefore, aspirants unable to move to Delhi need not worry, as they can prepare efficiently from the comfort of their homes.
