Not many can boast of cracking the UPSC exam twice, but for Anurag Kumar, hard work and dedication made it possible. In 2018, his name shone brightly on the merit list with an impressive 48th rank, marking his ascent as an IAS officer.

Humble Beginnings:

Anurag’s roots trace back to the Katihar district of Bihar. His initial education was in Hindi medium until the 8th grade, after which he transitioned to an English medium school. This shift posed its own set of challenges, with linguistic barriers being the primary obstacle.

Highs and Lows of Academic Life:

With sheer will and determination, Anurag worked hard and scored a remarkable 90% in his 10th board exams. However, the academic road ahead wasn’t smooth. The 12th grade saw him grappling with mathematics, leading to a failure in the pre-board examination.

Turning Tides:

Not one to be deterred, Anurag approached his 12th board exams with renewed vigor and scored above 90%. His academic journey then took him to the prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce in Delhi for graduation. Despite facing challenges and failing in several subjects, Anurag persisted, eventually pursuing post-graduation.

The UPSC Resolution:

It was during his post-graduation that the allure of the civil services beckoned Anurag. With laser-like focus, he started his UPSC preparations, dedicating every waking moment to mastering the syllabus.

Triumphing Against the Odds:

Anurag’s meticulous preparation bore fruit when he cleared the UPSC in his very first attempt in 2017, securing the 677th rank. But for him, this was just the beginning. Hungry for a better rank, he re-attempted the exam in 2018, catapulting to the 48th rank.
