Residents of Delhi, especially those in the southern parts, have been advised to brace themselves for a severe water shortage on the 4th and 5th of October. The Delhi Jal Board (DJB), the agency responsible for water distribution in the national capital, has sounded the alarm due to maintenance work scheduled at the Wazirabad Water Plant.

Key Points:

  • DJB has issued an alert for the inhabitants of South Delhi.
  • The reason cited is repair work that’s to be undertaken at the Wazirabad Water Plant.
  • Water supply in many South Delhi localities will be disrupted on 4th and 5th October.

The Board has urged the residents of South Delhi to stock up on water in anticipation of the upcoming disruption. With the maintenance work at the Wazirabad Water Plant in the pipeline, several areas in South Delhi will face an impediment in their regular water supply. People are being counseled to store sufficient water to avoid any inconvenience.

Most Affected Areas:

According to DJB, localities like Kalkaji, Okhla, Lajpat Nagar, Maharani Bagh, East of Kailash, among other areas in South Delhi, will be heavily impacted. The Board has advised residents to store water in advance, keeping in mind their necessities. However, the DJB has also assured residents that there’s no cause for panic. Water tankers will be available for areas facing acute shortages.

Furthermore, on the 4th of October, areas such as Kalindi Colony, New Friends Colony, Ishwar Nagar, Sukhdev Vihar, and Zakir Nagar won’t receive their water supply in the evening. On the following day, the 5th of October, the ESI region will also be affected with no water supply expected in the morning.

This situation underlines the importance of timely maintenance in ensuring a sustainable water supply for large cities like Delhi, but it also highlights the need for residents to be prepared and proactive in managing their resources during such events.
