According to sources, if the government eliminates the need for “double basements” for parking in the CCS buildings, the construction period could be reduced by up to six months. For instance, the construction of the under-construction CCS building on the IGNCA plot has already been delayed by six months due to the creation of double basements.
To address the parking issue in the area, the housing and urban affairs ministry is exploring alternative options such as building multi-level parking facilities. Currently, the inadequate parking spaces in the area cause congestion on Rajendra Prasad Road and Maulana Azad Road, where the main government buildings are located.
An official stated that the demand for parking is high even on weekends when many people visit Kartavya Path. Therefore, finding a solution to the growing parking problem in the area is crucial. The government is actively looking into different options to tackle this issue effectively.
