Rs 25 crore heist: Delhi Police claim key leads, suspect role of 5-6 men | Delhi News

Delhi Police officers are making progress in their investigation into a multi-crore jewellery showroom heist in Bhogal. They are currently searching for a getaway vehicle and a thinly built man, and believe that they will soon be able to solve the case.

Authorities suspect the involvement of 5-6 men in the crime, as well as the possible complicity of an insider. After reviewing CCTV footage, the police teams spotted a car that is believed to be the getaway vehicle, as well as a suspect. The initial footage was unclear, but clearer footage was obtained from a different camera near the shop.

The police’s interest in a “thinly built suspect” stems from the size of the hole that the burglars drilled to enter the shop’s strong room. Investigators hope that this lead will prove fruitful and help them crack the case.

The investigation has revealed that the thieves used a signage board from the shop to gain entry by removing a windowpane on the third floor. The presence of nuts and bolts on the floor suggests that the burglars were familiar with this entry route, leading authorities to suspect the involvement of an insider.

Empty jewellery boxes were found on the terrace of an interconnected building, along with a pair of slippers and a broken lock on the electricity board. Forensic experts have lifted 17 chance prints from the crime scene, which will be developed and compared with the police database.

Further evidence includes footage from one of the CCTV cameras, which captured a man on the ground floor the night before the crime. Investigators are also looking for a repair worker who was hired a month ago and had been absent from work for a week.

The police are checking nearby guesthouses and residential apartments for any suspicious individuals who may have stayed there until Sunday. They are also investigating the possibility that one of the suspects hid in the interconnected building before the heist.

In response to the incident, a group of jewellers met with the special commissioners of police to discuss the safety and security of their shops in the city. Multiple police teams have visited the crime scene and are working with the shop owners to create a list of stolen items from the strong room.

The Delhi Police are making use of available resources, including CCTV footage and forensic analysis, to swiftly solve the case and bring the perpetrators to justice. With promising leads emerging, it is hoped that the investigation will lead to arrests and the recovery of the stolen jewellery.
