Renault is working on launching an affordable electric version of its popular family car, the Kwid. The Renault Kwid EV will compete with the MG Comet and Tata Tiago EV in the market. It is expected to have a power output of around 45 bhp and a torque of 125 Nm. The car will be equipped with a 26.8 kWh Li-ion battery that can generate electricity even on rough roads. The launch of the Renault Kwid EV is anticipated to take place by the end of 2024 or in 2025.

Renault has been working on more than a dozen cars, including updated versions of the Duster and various electric models. The petrol version of the Renault Kwid is currently available at a price of INR 4.70 lakh (ex-showroom), making it one of the most affordable cars in India.

The pricing for the Renault Kwid EV is expected to be competitive, considering that the starting price for the MG Comet EV is INR 7.98 lakh (ex-showroom) and the Tata Tiago EV is priced at INR 8.69 lakh (ex-showroom).

Renault is also set to launch the Kiger EV in the future. The company is focusing on small-sized electric cars and plans to introduce around nine electric models by 2025. The Renault Kwid EV is part of this ambitious plan. It is worth mentioning that Renault sold 3,607 units in July 2023.

While the driving range and pricing details for the Renault Kwid EV have not been announced yet, the MG Comet offers a driving range of around 230 km with its 17.3 kWh battery pack. The petrol version of the Renault Kwid offers a mileage of 22.3 kmpl.
