Amrita’s initial journey in academia led her to the esteemed medical profession. After completing her MBBS, she pursued an MD in Pathology. Subsequently, she took up a role as an Assistant Professor at BPS Medical College for Women. But destiny, and a spark of inspiration, had other plans for her.
A Unique Inspiration:
For many, the lure of UPSC is driven by societal prestige or personal ambition. For Amrita, the motivation was closer to home. Her younger brother’s selection into the IPS stirred a dormant aspiration within her. Juggling her professional commitments, marital life, and motherhood, she set her sights on the UPSC exam.
A Well-Crafted Strategy:
Successful UPSC candidates often emphasize the importance of planning. Amrita’s strategy was a testament to this. She diligently carved out time during weekdays for exam preparations, reserving weekends for her son. Her unwavering commitment and meticulous planning culminated in 2016 when she cleared the UPSC in her maiden attempt, all without the aid of any coaching institute.
Overcoming Physical Challenges:
Transitioning from the world of medicine to the rigorous training of the National Police Academy, Amrita faced a fresh set of challenges. At 33, she wasn’t particularly attuned to intense physical activities. However, showcasing her characteristic determination, she undertook extra training. Her dedication was evident when she was honored as the Best Outdoor Probationer and Best All-rounder Probationer by the end of her training period.
