In the picturesque town of Bageshwar in Uttarakhand, a story of relentless determination and ambition unraveled. Sangeeta Joshi, a resident of this humble town, did not let her beginnings define her limits. An IAS officer from the 2018 batch, her journey is nothing short of inspirational.
Today, Sangeeta proudly holds the position of Deputy Director in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, a testament to her commitment and hard work. But, her path to this esteemed role in the bureaucracy wasn’t linear.
Born to educators, her parents were both teachers, ensuring that academic diligence was instilled in her from a young age. With a household reverberating with the importance of education, Sangeeta was always surrounded by books, ideas, and a thirst for knowledge.
Her initial aspirations veered towards the field of engineering. Between 2011 and 2015, she pursued civil engineering at IT Dwarahat, a renowned institution. Yet, life had a different plan for her. Even after completing her degree and being offered employment opportunities in her field, she chose not to tread the path of an engineer. One might wonder why someone with such a promising future in engineering would change direction.
Sangeeta’s ambitions stretched beyond the realms of engineering. She had set her sights on India’s most prestigious examination – the UPSC. Fueled by a desire to serve her country in a more direct and impactful manner, she immersed herself in preparation. Her dedication knew no bounds as she burned the midnight oil, often complementing her studies with online resources. Two intense years of perseverance later, Sangeeta emerged triumphant, clearing the UPSC examination.
Sangeeta Joshi’s journey, transitioning from an engineering graduate to an IAS officer, epitomizes the power of determination and belief in oneself.
