5 held from Punjab for gold robbery in Delhi's Paschim Vihar | Delhi News

A 42-year-old woman, along with her four associates, has been arrested in connection with the robbery of 17 gold biscuits in west Delhi’s Paschim Vihar area. The accused have been identified as Sonu Suri, a resident of Tagore Garden Extension, Navneet, Mohsin Khan, Dheeraj, and Ankit Porwal, all residents of Khayala.

The incident took place on September 22 when the victim, who was on his way to deliver a bag containing gold on his scooter, was intercepted by two individuals on a bike near Udyog Nagar Metro Station. They snatched the bag and fled towards Peeragarhi. The victim immediately reported the robbery to the police.

During the investigation, the police reviewed CCTV footage along the route and identified two suspects on a bike who had been following the complainant outside his workshop. It was observed that they were in communication with someone on their mobile phone, indicating that they were receiving information.

The investigation led to the discovery that two of the accused had fled to Jalandhar in Punjab. The police apprehended both suspects, identified as Dheeraj and Ankit. Sonu and Navneet, the main culprits, had prior knowledge of the victim’s movements and knew that he would be delivering gold in Chandni Chowk. They waited for him on September 22, expecting the gold delivery.

After the robbery, all five suspects left Delhi and took refuge in Jalandhar. Fortunately, the police managed to track them down and arrested them. They also recovered the stolen gold, which consisted of 17 gold biscuits weighing 2 kg.
