Jaipur: BJP chief JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently held a night-long discussion in Jaipur to strategize for the upcoming Rajasthan assembly polls. According to party sources, the meeting, which began at a Jaipur hotel late on Wednesday evening, continued until 2 am. The party has made the decision to field Union Ministers and MPs on challenging seats, as revealed by BJP sources. This meeting comes after the BJP’s announcement of three Union ministers and four MPs in its second list of candidates for the poll-bound Madhya Pradesh.

Sources within the BJP’s Rajasthan unit have speculated that Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat might be fielded in the assembly polls, alongside several other MPs. In addition to discussing candidate selection, the party leadership has also decided not to project a Chief Ministerial candidate during the campaigning in order to promote a combined approach to leadership. This move aims to prevent any potential conflicts or rivalries between regional leaders and reinforce the principle of “party above individual.”

If the BJP emerges victorious in the upcoming elections, some potential candidates for the post of Rajasthan Chief Minister include Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena, and Lok Sabha MPs Diya Kumar and Sukhveer Singh Jaunpuria. Interestingly, Vasundhara Raje, a two-term Chief Minister and a member of the Scindia royal family, has not been projected as the presumptive Chief Minister, despite being widely recognized as the BJP’s most prominent and influential leader in the state.
