The initial containment of the fires was later undone by heavy winds, prompting the evacuation.
The situation has caused panic among the residents, with Hatting describing the thick, black smoke and the sight of fire hoses and vehicles rushing towards Pringle Bay. Firefighters have been working tirelessly over the last two weeks to contain various fires in the province, all fueled by strong winds.
