Apple TV+ brings to life the harrowing stories of the men of the U.S. Air Force’s 100th Bomb Group in the new series “Masters of the Air.” Adapted from Donald L. Miller’s book, the series sheds a light on the bravery and sacrifice of the men who conducted bombing raids over Nazi Germany during the Second World War.

Flying beyond enemy lines to attack airfields, naval facilities, and industrial plants, these heroes grappled with frigid conditions, lack of oxygen, and the sheer terror of combat at 25,000 feet in the air. The series aims to highlight the courageous legacy of the 100th Bomb Group, also known as the “Bloody Hundredth,” and the 8th Air Force.

Actor Callum Turner expressed the importance of shining a light on the legacy of these men, emphasizing the incredible sacrifice they made for their country. Additionally, the series looks at the psychological and emotional effects of war on those on the front line, examining the personal lives and relationships of the soldiers.

The star-studded cast includes Academy Award nominee Austin Butler, Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann, Rafferty Law, Academy Award nominee Barry Keoghan, Josiah Cross, Branden Cook, and Ncuti Gatwa. Executive producers Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, and Gary Goetzman, who previously collaborated on “Band of Brothers” and “The Pacific,” bring their expertise to this powerful and gut-wrenching series.
