Gurgaon Segment of Dwarka Expressway Set for February Inauguration
The impending opening of the Gurgaon portion of the Dwarka Expressway marks a significant milestone in the region’s infrastructural development. The much-awaited Gurgaon portion of the Dwarka Expressway a project marked by repeated delays is finally nearing completion.
Officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) have announced that this crucial segment will be operational by February. This development comes after previous commitments had set the completion date for the end of October.
The Dwarka Expressway a significant infrastructure project has been segmented into four distinct packages for efficient execution. These are:
- First Package: Extending from Shiv Murti near Mahipalpur to Dwarka.
- Second Package: From Dwarka Urban Extension Road (UER) to Bajghera.
- Third Package: Connecting Bajghera to the Basai rail overbridge, marking the Delhi-Haryana border.
- Fourth Package: From Basai rail overbridge to Kherki Daula.
The Gurgaon segment is particularly significant. Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav confirmed its opening in February. This part of the expressway includes a vital cloverleaf interchange. This interchange will link the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway (NH-48) and the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) near Kherki Daula.
In a move parallel to the expressway’s development the Haryana government has established the Haryana Metro Rail Corporation (HMRC) and drawing inspiration from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). This step indicates a broader vision for urban mobility which integrating road and rail networks to create a more cohesive and efficient transportation framework for the region.
