WhatsApp Update: WhatsApp, the globally popular messaging app which is taking significant strides in enhancing user experience with its latest feature rollout. The platform is currently testing the ability to share status updates not just from smartphones but also from linked devices and its web interface.

As of now, this new feature is available to a limited number of users. This selective rollout is a standard approach for WhatsApp which allowing the company to gather feedback and make necessary adjustments before a wider release.

In tandem with these updates, WhatsApp is also in the process of testing a new companion device: WhatsApp for iPad. This development is particularly exciting for iPad users who have long awaited a dedicated WhatsApp application for their devices.

Enhanced Functionality with Companion Mode

WhatsApp’s companion mode is a breakthrough feature that allows users to access their chats on up to four different devices simultaneously even when their primary smartphone is offline.

The new status sharing feature was first spotted in WhatsApp Web beta version 2.2353.59 by the eagle-eyed team at WABetaInfo.

Recently, WhatsApp also introduced the ‘View Once’ feature for voice messages further cementing its commitment to user privacy and control. This feature allows users to send voice messages that disappear after they’ve been listened to once.

Beta testers with access to this new feature can easily upload a status update. They simply need to click on the green icon next to their profile photo in the ‘My Status’ section and choose either ‘Photos & Videos’ or ‘Text’ to share their update.
