Brian Lara, the legendary West Indian cricketer renowned for his record-breaking innings, has made a bold prediction about a young Indian talent. Lara, who holds the record for the highest individual score in a Test innings with an unbeaten 400 runs, believes that Team India’s young opening batsman, Shubman Gill, has the potential to surpass this milestone.
Lara’s remarkable achievement came against England on April 10, 2004, where he faced 582 balls and decorated his innings with 43 fours and 4 sixes. Since this historic feat, no batsman has reached the 400-run mark in a Test innings. Additionally, Lara holds a first-class record of scoring an unbeaten 501 runs in a County Championship match against Durham in 1994.
However, Lara sees in Shubman Gill a talent capable of rewriting both records. In a conversation with Anandabazar Patrika, Lara expressed his belief in Gill’s abilities, stating, “Shubman Gill can break both my records. He is the most talented player of this generation. He will rule cricket in the coming years. I believe that he will break many records.”
