IPL 2024: With the IPL 2024 mini auction just around the corner, cricket fans are gearing up for an exciting event set to take place in Dubai on December 19th. The anticipation is building as franchises prepare to fine-tune their squads for the upcoming season. The deadline for declaring the names of retained and released players, set by the BCCI, was November 26.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the champions of IPL 2016, have made some strategic decisions in the lead-up to IPL 2024. The team has chosen to release six players while retaining 18 in their squad. Additionally, SRH was involved in a trade that saw Shahbaz Ahmed move to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
IPL 2024: One of the significant releases for SRH is England’s star player Harry Brook, who was acquired for a substantial sum of Rs 13.25 crore but delivered lackluster performances during his tenure with the team. Another notable name in the released players is England’s star spinner Adil Rashid. Alongside them, Samarth Vyas, Akil Hossain, Karthik Tyagi, and Vivrant Sharma have also been shown the exit door. These releases have significantly bolstered SRH’s purse value for the auction, now standing at Rs 34 crore, offering them the opportunity to target top talent.
The 16th season of IPL was a challenging one for Hyderabad, as they managed to secure only four wins out of 14 matches, placing them at the tenth spot in the points table. The team faced various shortcomings, and as they prepare for the upcoming season, they will aim to address these issues by making strategic acquisitions in the auction. SRH will be eager to claim their second IPL title and make a strong comeback.
