Born and raised in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, Dilip was academically gifted from a young age. His scholastic aptitude was evident when he cleared the entrance exam for the prestigious National Institute of Technology (NIT) after completing his intermediate education. Dilip embarked on his UPSC journey with a clear strategy and an unwavering goal to serve in the Indian bureaucracy. However, success in this highly competitive exam did not come easily. In his first attempt, Dilip faced disappointment, failing to secure a selection. Undeterred, he tried again, reaching the interview stage in his second attempt, only to miss out on a place in the final list.
