Journey to Success:

In 2019, Dilip Kumar realized his dream by securing the 73rd rank in the UPSC examination. His dedication and resilience crowned him an IAS officer.

Past Hurdles:

Dilip reached the interview phase twice before, but both times, he scored considerably low. These setbacks, instead of discouraging him, only fueled his determination. He introspected on his shortcomings and revisited his strategy for the third attempt.

Choosing Comfort over Conformity:

In a bold move, Dilip opted to switch to Hindi for his interview, veering away from the more commonly used English. His decision bore fruit. Dilip emphasizes that the language of communication during the interview is inconsequential when it comes to scoring. It’s paramount to communicate in a language one is most comfortable with.

Content Over Language:

Dilip’s experience underlines the fact that in UPSC interviews, what you say holds more weight than the language in which you say it. While it’s perfectly acceptable to intersperse one’s responses with English terms, it’s the accuracy and depth of the answers that matter the most.

Roots in Hindi Medium:

Dilip’s educational foundation was laid in a Hindi medium school, which naturally made him more eloquent in Hindi. Recognizing this, and learning from previous attempts, he chose to harness his strength in Hindi during his third interview.

Communication, The Key:

During his initial two interviews, Dilip was well-prepared in terms of content. However, the real obstacle lay in effectively communicating his knowledge. By the third attempt, he realized that true success lay in expressing himself clearly, irrespective of the language.
