Mumbai Metro: Lines 2A and 7 Stations To Get Last-Mile Auto Rickshaw Connectivity

In a bid to enhance the convenience of commuters, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has decided to provide last-mile connectivity to the passengers using the Mumbai Metro Line 2A and Line 7. The last mile connectivity will be established through auto-rickshaws, which are a popular mode of transport in the city.

Line 2A, also known as the Dahisar-DN Nagar Metro corridor, is currently under construction and will connect the northern and western parts of Mumbai. It will comprise a total of 17 stations, with an approximate length of 18.6 kilometers. Similarly, Line 7, the Andheri East to Dahisar East Metro corridor, will consist of 13 stations and cover a distance of around 16.5 kilometers.

By introducing auto-rickshaws as a last-mile connectivity option, the MMRDA aims to facilitate the seamless travel of passengers from these metro stations to their final destinations. Auto-rickshaws are an integral part of Mumbai’s transportation system and are known for their flexibility and affordability.

Moreover, this initiative will not only benefit the daily commuters but also the individuals traveling from distant areas to access the metro stations. The availability of auto-rickshaws will ease the burden of finding transportation and reduce the time required to reach the stations.

To initiate the system, dedicated auto-rickshaw stands will be set up near the metro stations. These stands will ensure the availability of auto-rickshaws at all times, making it convenient for passengers. Additionally, the auto-rickshaw drivers will be regulated and monitored to ensure fair tariff practices and passenger safety.

The MMRDA’s decision to provide last-mile connectivity through auto-rickshaws showcases their commitment to improving the overall public transportation network in Mumbai. This move aligns with their objective of reducing congestion on roads, promoting sustainable transportation, and enhancing the travel experience for commuters.

And in the last, the introduction of last-mile connectivity through auto-rickshaws at Mumbai Metro Line 2A and Line 7 stations is a commendable step by the MMRDA. It will undoubtedly benefit the commuters by providing them with a convenient and efficient means of reaching their final destinations.
