A precocious 14-year-old, Ravi Mohan Saini, defied the odds and captured the nation’s imagination by winning a whopping Rs 1 crore on the famed show, Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) Junior. But Ravi’s journey didn’t stop there. Today, he stands tall, serving the nation by maintaining law and order as the Superintendent of Police.

The KBC Junior Victory

In 2001, the entire country buzzed with excitement when Ravi Mohan Saini took the center stage on KBC Junior. With a calm demeanor and sharp intellect, he answered all 15 questions posed by the legendary host, Amitabh Bachchan, securing his position as the crorepati of the season.

While many might have been tempted by the glamour and allure of sudden fame, Ravi had a higher calling. After his momentous win, he set his sights on India’s prestigious civil services.

Background and Schooling

Ravi’s resilience and determination can be traced back to his roots. Born in Alwar, Rajasthan, he is the proud son of a retired Indian Navy officer. Due to his father’s posting, he pursued his schooling in Visakhapatnam’s Naval Public School.

Medical Background

Contrary to what one might expect, Ravi delved into the medical field after his school. He completed his MBBS from the esteemed Mahatma Gandhi Medical College in Jaipur. As he was wrapping up his medical internship, the allure of civil services beckoned him.

Initial Hurdles in UPSC

Every great success story is dotted with challenges. Ravi’s journey was no exception. He embarked on his UPSC journey in 2012 but faced disappointment when he couldn’t clear the Mains.

A Second Attempt

Undeterred, Ravi gave the UPSC exam another shot in 2013. Though he passed, he was inducted into the Accounts and Finance Service in the Indian Posts and Telecommunications Department. However, this did not align with his true ambition.

The Triumph in the Third Try

2014 marked the year Ravi’s dreams transformed into reality. On his third attempt, with unwavering determination, he secured the 461st rank in All India, paving his way into the Indian Police Service.
