Noida International Airport: First Test Flight Expected by March 2024, Details Inside

Exciting news for aviation enthusiasts and residents of Delhi-NCR, the construction of Noida International Airport is progressing at an impressive pace. The ambitious project, which aims to cater to the growing air travel demands of the region, is expected to have its first test flight by March 2024.

Located in Jewar, about 72 kilometers from Delhi, Noida International Airport is touted to be the largest airport in India upon completion. It is being constructed in four phases, with an estimated cost of around ₹29,560 crore ($4 billion). The project is expected to create a significant number of job opportunities and boost economic growth in the region.

The airport will have two parallel runways, capable of handling the largest commercial aircraft including the Airbus A380 and Boeing 747. It is expected to have an annual passenger handling capacity of around 12-16 million during its first phase, with a plan to expand it to 30 million in the subsequent phases.

In addition to passenger terminals, the airport will also have dedicated cargo terminals and maintenance, repair, and overhaul facilities. This will attract international cargo operators and aid in the development of Uttar Pradesh’s logistics sector. The airport’s strategic location, near the upcoming Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, will further enhance its logistics capabilities.

The project has seen significant progress since its inauguration in 2018, with land acquisition and environmental clearances completed for the first phase. The state-of-the-art airport is being developed following global standards and will be equipped with advanced technologies and eco-friendly features.

The Noida International Airport is expected to ease the burden on Delhi’s existing airports and provide improved connectivity to the growing population of the Delhi-NCR region. The proximity to Noida, Greater Noida, and other nearby cities will make it a convenient choice for travelers.

With the first test flight expected in March 2024, aviation enthusiasts and stakeholders eagerly anticipate the completion of Noida International Airport. It is a significant step towards enhancing air travel infrastructure in India, boosting economic growth, and opening up new opportunities for both domestic and international travel.
