Jio vs Airtel Xstream AirFibre: The Need for Traditional Broadband Connection Eliminated by Wireless Devices
Gone are the days when you needed wired broadband connections to access the internet at home. Now, you can enjoy internet access without any wires through a “plug and play device”. These air fiber devices are readily available in the market, allowing you to connect to the internet from any location within your home without the hassle of external wires or connectivity issues.
Reliance Jio recently announced the launch date of its Jio AirFiber device during their Annual General Meeting (AGM). The device is set to be available for sale starting from September 18th. Jio claims that their device will be 20% cheaper compared to competitors. However, the company hasn’t shared the plan details yet. On the other hand, Airtel has already launched its Airtel Xstream AirFibre plans.
Airtel offers a 6-month plan for Xstream AirFibre priced at INR 7,733. This plan includes a refundable security deposit of INR 2,500. With this plan, you get a speed of 100Mbps for six months. Additionally, it comes with WiFi 6 technology, providing fast internet and downloading speeds. According to an ET report, Jio may launch its device at a price of around INR 6,000, making it cheaper than Airtel’s offering.
Jio claims that its device is better as it uses standalone (SA) 5G network technology, which offers superior connectivity and performance compared to Airtel’s non-standalone (NSA) technology. Jio has also mentioned the possibility of delivering internet speeds of up to 1Gbps. However, the plans are yet to be launched, and more information regarding this will be available on September 18th.
Overall, both Jio and Airtel are offering wireless solutions for home internet access. While Airtel’s plans are already available, Jio’s plans will be unveiled soon. Considering the price and the technology used, customers can make an informed decision about which option suits them best.
