In a significant move to ensure user safety and policy adherence, WhatsApp has reported banning over 71 lakh accounts in India during the month of November.

Proactive Measures Lead to Large-Scale Account Bans

WhatsApp a Facebook (Meta)-owned messaging service has taken a proactive stance in its policy enforcement. In November alone, the company banned 19,54,000 accounts without waiting for user reports.

The identification of Indian users is primarily based on their +91 phone numbers. In the same period, WhatsApp received a total of 8,841 grievances. Remarkably, the company acted on six of these report.

WhatsApp has been consistently enhancing its security features to protect user privacy and safety. The platform offers end-to-end encryption. This end-to-end encryption ensuring that messages are only readable by the sender and the recipient.

Additionally, features like muting unknown numbers and chat lock further fortify the security.
